What can you get the correct update?

Using windows 98se and would like to stop critical updates from resetting to "check every 5 minutes"

I try to set it to check once a week eg Monday at 8pm and every time I restart computer it has changed itself to checking daily from a given time every 5 minutes.

and although I have downloaded 823559 I keep finding it on the critical updates notificication. How do I correct this as well

It would be best to go to the microsoft website and from there update the patches at http://update.microsoft.com/.

You might also check the Time set of your computer make sure your computer time zone is easter time (canada...etc.
