What is service pack

I upgraded Windows XP with a critical service pack, which archived my orginal, causing my computer to run slow, also everything is very small I have gone to disply to correct with no avail, also in tools in intenet Exploer nothing changes, exceot my icons on the desk top. Help I need a magnifiying glass to see my computer screen. There is no medium to my screens not even yours. I know it must be simple and under my nose because I cannot find the answer on any web site.

I had the same problem and what I did was uninstall the service pack and reinstall That corrected the problem The first time that I upgraded xp with service pack it slowed my system down and the screen looked bad
