The computer has had many freezes and I have managed to get it working again but it will not perform scandisk. I have tried doing scandisk in safe mode but it still will not do it. Can you give me some idea of why scandisk will not work even in safe mode? Also when opened up the computer I found a tiny red pin cover had come off but have no idea where to put it. A friend told us that it goes near the battery but there are several places to put it. Can you be more specific as to where it should go on the motherboard and is it an important part? Thankyou for any help you can give.

Hello..

Sounds like you might have yourself a possible virus.

especially if scan disk does not work in safe mode Do you get any memory erros ? If so you can do a search on the memory error or any errors and find a solution You can also scheck this link from the microsoft web site about scandisk http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q222469 If it just wont do anything at all wether in safe mode or not you want to run a virus scan on your computer then try again Lastly, when preforming scandisk. it needs to be the only program running it requires total access to the hard drive and not any other program You can press cntrl alt del key to end all yourapplications running in the background Once you have ended all of them you can then preform a scandisk Try to do a surface sacan first, then a full scan.

I hope this has helped you

Good Luck
