What could be anti-virus

Yesterday I downloaded a new version of Internet explorer, and ever since then when I try to open up files in my -c- drive my computer says that it has performed an illegal operation. when I click on details it says that explorer has created a page fault. HELLPPP! please thank you.

I had a similar problem like that and what I did was uninstall my anti-virus program Do that and see what happens
