What is a virus scanner
I am unable to download any .exe files (such as virus updates, MSN updates, browser updates, etc.). When I try, I immediately get a white blank screen, with a small box in the upper left hand corner (with small shapes in it). I do not get a dialogue box asking me where to download, etc. I have set my internet security to medium (I have also tried setting it at Low, with no luck), I have set the security settings to "default settings", etc. Nothing works. I have ZoneAlarm as a firewall/virus program, and I close the program before I try to download, and that still doesn't help.
Thanks so much for any help you can give me!

Sounds like you have a big problem there To me it sounds like you could possibly have a virus In my experience those are the kind of things that viruses do First dont change your Internet Security options unless you truely understand what your doing It could cause more harm than good As for the zone alarm, make sure you know how to use that program as well because it could do more harm as well than good (as far as changing preferences and blocking important things) As well as i would not use it as a primary virus scanner You should get something like norton antivirus or PC-CILLIN or even macfee for a virus scanner if you dont have any of those already as soon as possible since you cant download it i suggest you go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and get yourself a free virus scan If any viruses are detected they shall clean it for you And after that download the PC-CILLIN trial and consider purchase if you like it Thats the one i use and i find it very useful and acuarate
I hope this has helped you Liz
