Hi,

I recently had my friend build a computer for me.

P4 2.4 GHz 800 MHz FSB

MSI Neo2 motherboard

512 RAM

80 G HD

128 MB video card.

Win XP Pro

The problem:

comp restarts by itself at random times. Sometimes right after i turn it on, other times just whenever it feels like rebooting. It's not blast worm because there's no error messages. 3D games will also cause reboot. Applications crashes very often.

Things I've tried:

-Format HD and reload OS

-Make sure all drivers for each hardware component is working properly

-Run virus scan and scandisk

-tried to keep FSB speed at minimum speed (FSB at 200 MHz x 12 = 2.4 GHz)

Possible causes:

-I'm using 420 W power supply

-I have not updated BIOS from the MSI website (if this is the problem, how do i update it?)

-using a single 512 RAM instead of two 256 RAMs

-speed of CPU increase at FSB increase in speed (too fast?)

-temperature (60 degrees C)

I hope it's only a setting problem, please show me how to set it right.

Thank you so much~

Calvin

Try updating the BIOS, but first backup the BIOS that you have now You can go to the website for the motherboard that you bought You can download the new version of your BIOS.
