A friend fitted a second hard drive to my pc as a slave. Now the pc will not recognise either drives. The main drive is set as the master.

They are not even found by the Bios? I have checked the connectors and all the other wiring and all is correct. I have even tried changing the ribbon and using others and still no joy. When taking the new drive out and trying to run the old one as normal on its own...i get nothing except System disc error and 1782-disk controller failure.

Can you help??

What you can do is check the power plugs to the HD verify that the plugs are in properly If this was done and you still have a controller failure error Verify that none of the pins are bent or broken.
