Lately when I try to access secured internet sites a windows comes up saying its not available or theres no such address

Lately when I try to access secured internet sites (ie., collegeboard.com, aol.com's web mail, and banking sites) a window comes up saying it's not available or there's no such address. I've talked to people and they've said it's probably my browser, but nothing seems to fix it. This is getting to be a real pain in the neck because things need to get done and it's not possible until this works. Please help! Thank you.
