Serial port to usb

I have only one serial port (usual I understand) but two devices which require that connection. Is there an adaptor which will convert the serial connection on my device to a USB connection? If so, do you know where I can get one with full instructions on the installation. I did find one but after no succes with it I was told I would need ot reset somethign in the BIOS but the instructions which came with the adaptor did not tell me that.
