How did it work?

I installed Windows ME on my computer about 2 years ago. My problem is at start up my computer will go to the Win ME option where I can pick either: normal mode, safe mode, and so on. It will let me choose any of the modes and right before the mode comes up my computer will shut down. It will show 'IT IS NOW SAFE TO TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER'. I have tried all 4 modes and no matter which option I choose it will shut down by its self.

Perform a parallel installation of win ME (install operating system under different system root folder) after installation verify if problem still occurs If it does not resolve the problem it could be a hardware failure otherwise, after installation backup all critical data and reformat the hard disk and finally reinstall the operating system from scratch.
