Does Win XT come with the file type as FAT or NTFS? If you convert the file system from FAT to NTFS do you lose any data?

If you change your file system to ntfs you will not lose any data ntfs is a very good file system

NTFS - New Technology File System
NTFS is a high-performance and self-healing file system which Windows XP, 2000, and NT use NTFS supports file-level security, compression and auditing It also supports large volumes and powerful storage but the most important new feature of NTFS is the ability to encrypt files and folders to protect your sensitive data.
FAT= File Allocation Table
File Allocation Table (FAT) file system is a simple file system designed for small disks and simple folder structures To protect the volume, two copies of the table are kept, in case one becomes damaged In addition, the file allocation tables and the root folder must be stored in a fixed location so that the files needed to start the system can be correctly located
There's 3 kinds of FAT file systems:
FAT32
FAT16
FAT12
