Received an answer today but not the right one.

Question is: Why do I get an small "X" in a large picture frame where a picture should be?

The answer was that the picture had been deleted.

This could not be the case. The picture was just received in an e-mail in some cases and on a website in other cases. Why would my friends send a deleted picture? Why would a website (including Data Doctors) have a deleted picture? This happens only occasionally.

One possible explanation for the problem with the picture is that your Web browser doesn't support the file type the picture is being saved in The files that most browsers support are .jpg and .gif Have your friend try saving the picture in one of these formats and resending.
