Why does my computer not boot up now except in safe mode? The power had went off for about two hours while the computer was in sleep mode (at night). The next day, it started not booting up. It will sit idle for a long time and then give me the option for safe mode or normal. I've tried safe mode, but cannot seem to find a reason why it won't boot up. Also, when I have tried normal mode, it will just sit there and do nothing. We haven't moved it and it has been working fine until now. We tried to use the Window 98 boot disk, but that didn't work either.

What you can do is run a scandisk to diagnose the problem on your disk then run a system recovery disk to complete the assesment.
