How do I fix my main.idx file?

Ok well first of all I get an error message saying that my main .idx file is damaged. Some websites wont work.. it will say this in the address bar... res://C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SHDOCLC.DLL/dnserror.htm#https://scgi.ebay.com/saw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?( with a random website like it has there) and it will say page cannot display on the page...and I cant download some things.. errors with a bunch of stuff will come up. Internet explorer wont work also. I use aol and have windows 98 second edition. But please tell me ways i can possibly do to fix this.

Go to c:/program files/america online/backup and the copy the Main.idx file and paste it in c:/program files/america online/idb folder to overwrite the previous one.
