the file named "msinfo.exe" got a virus and norton placed it into quarantine since it could not repair it. this file was in my startup and so now everytime i boot up i get the message that the file cannot be found. i know i can delete it from my start up menu. i just hesitate to do so since i do not know what that file actually is. i don't even know if it would prevent my computer from booting up if i delete it. please advise. thanks so much. love you guys!

Check your startup folder for this file or program trying to start up with Windows Simply remove the reference to it from the Startup and you should be OK from there.

It helps to know what OS you are running when asking for help It allows us to give exact details on problems of this nature, as each OS is a little different in it's solutions

Go to Start, Run, and type in msconfig Once the Dialog box opens click on the Startup Tab You can scroll down to find the culprit and uncheck it This disables it from starting up when Windows Boots up Once the file is unchecked simply click Apply and OK and reboot the system You will receive a warning when you get back to the desktop about running in Diagnostic Mode Click Never Display the Message, then OK you should be good to go from there.
