I recently registered my own domain name. I'm very interested in hosting this domain name locally, and providing a Web server and FTP server for use by my friends. I'm a bit leery about leaving my system naked on the Internet, so right now I'm behind a router. I'm using IIS for my Web server, and RhinoSoft's Serv-U as my FTP server software. I've enabled Persistent Port Forwarding on my router as to allow traffic in/out, and have pointed all said incoming traffic to the proper computer on my network. The primary reason for registering my own domain name is due to the fact I have DSL, and my public IP address is frequently released/renewed by my ISP. I'm currently unable to connect to either of these servers using this domain name. What steps am I missing?

Yeah I have the same problem but right now the only thing that I do is update the ip address by myself to the place where your domain name is registered and change it manually But I have heard that there is a software that automatically changes and updates your ip address and your dns by itself For right now I don't know what it is but I know that you are not missing anything I hope you can find that piece of software I have not yet had the time to look it up but try www.noip.com I think that is the software that you and me both need for our little situation.
