My modem stopped working. I reinstalled facory drivers, the modem test says it is working but, I am getting no dial tone. There is no IRQ conflict. I can not recall adding or changing any software, other than perhaps installing a Windows Critical Update.

I have gone to the computer manufacturers' web site, and downloaded updated drivers and also updated the BIOS as well.

I do not know if this has anything to do with my modem not working but when I check the device manager, The PCI Simple Communications Controller under network adapters has a yellow circle with an exclamation mark in the center of it.

My belief is the modem is fine but there is a software issue or setting that is incorrect and is preventing the modem from working properly.

The modem had worked fine before.
