What is usb mouse?

my usb mouse is not recognised although the machine is aware of a usb device being inserted due to sound,also the mouse has worked previously on this machine,the mouse has been tested on another machine and is working properly.

I have found out in the past that from time to time you may loss a driver for certan things on your computer and it is very inportant to have the CD's or Floppy disk that came with the device you have installed Try re-installing the driver for the mouse.
