in my computer i don't see cdrom drive or my computer is not detecting cdrom.even there is no cdrom controller in device manager.my c: drive is in ntfs and my operating system is win2000 and when i press f8 it doesn't go to "command prompt" so i am very tensed please help me.

my computer is pentium 3 and ram 128 and harddisk 20gb

Check the folllowing configurations;

-check to see wheter another device is using the same port settings or IRQ number.Look in Device Manager

Check the following connections

Is the data cable attached to the CD-ROM and to the controller?

Is the stripe on the data cable correctly alogned to PIN 1?

-for IDE drivers,is the correct master /slave jumper set?

-For IDE drivers, check that the IDE connection is not disable in CMOS set up

-For SCSI drivers, check that the proper ID is set and the device is terminated if it's on the end of the SCSI chain

-Suspect a boot virus.Run a current version of an antivirus program
