How do I fix the error

When I last tried to turn my computer on, an error message appeared in DOS saying that Windows cannot start beacause the file c:\wndows\system32\c_1252.nls is damaged or corrupted.

Then it says that I must put in the system restore CD and tells me what options to select...

When I bought the CD, Tiny - the manufacturer - gave me the system restore CD, this does nothing whatsoever.

After the message appears pressing any key just restarts the computer and thus, restarts the problem.

Try this: 1) Boot to the XP cdrom and load the Recovery Console Loaded the C:\windows directory 2) Typed "cd system32" (without quotation marks) This changes prompt to C:\windows\system32 3) Typed "ren c_1252.nls c_1252.old" (without quotation marks) This renames the file, if you get file not found don't worry about renaming file 4) Typed "expand e:\i386\c_1252.nl_ c:\windows\system32" (without quotation marks) File expands succesfully 5) Typed "exit" (without quotation marks)

You need to have the bios set to boot to the CD.
