Why Im I getting a blank window?

when i right click on a link to open in new window or when i click on a link that opens in a new window, the window is just blank, nothing there at all. I have xp running with most of the updates i can get to download. luckily i had updates saved because i can't download updates from microsoft because it uses open new windows to download the updates

The cause of this may be because you had clicked a hyperlink in an e-mail message or on a Web page, or you right clicked a hyperlink on a Web page and then click Open in New Window.
