No sound from my computer, please help?

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion ze4400 Laptop. I have had it for only about 2 months, but recently there has been no sound coming from it. I can still play music CD's in the CD drive with no problem, but if I am visiting a website or talking on Instant Messanger, there is no sound. Please let me know what you think the problem is. Thanks.

I maybe as simple as going into the volume settings and turning off mute in the "wave" sound control (or raise the volume) Hope this helps.
