I am running Win XP and I have encountered a recent problem....

Every now and again the Scroll Lock button will light up and help screens will appear. They can be easily closed and the Scroll Lock turned off. However, at times it is continual and various applications will freeze up. Further, if typing in the address bar on MS Explorer V.6 letters will automatically appear, usually T's and Y's.

I have run updated versions of Macafee and Symantec to check for virus' and also have reformatted my C: and reinstalled Windows. I have also disabled the System Restore function as suggested to counter some virus' but nothing has seemed to help.

Any ideas or suggestions???? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

John

It seems as though you have went through a few crucial steps in order to determine what might be causing the problem.

Since you have already ran an antivirus program and also tried reinstalling the OS, the problem might lie within your keyboard.

If you can get another keyboard, borrow it maybe, try to see if another keyboard will produce the same result

If the problem does not exist when using another ketboard, then YOUR keeyboard is the problem.

If you DO get the same result, then it might be an issue with the system board.
