Disk Controller Failure

When i start my Laptop sometimes it gives error before Windows XP startup screen "1782 Disk Contoller Failure" & my Laptop hangs, & some times without showing this error message Laptop starts normally. What would be the problem,

Can u Pls help me

Fyi, my Hard disk is Fujitel 30 GB HDD.

This is arturo, you might encounter a Controller failer which could be the motherboard IDE controller or is your hard drive circuit board I suggest to backup all your critical data before is to late.

Because next time may not want to bootup at all, another alternative is to replace the data cable that connect your hard drive to your motherboard and see if is the datacable is causing problem, if this doesn't work then replace it with a new hard drive it should have a guarantee, if still giving the same problem after replacing the new HD than is The Motherboard IDE Controller and you have to replace the whole motherboard, unless if you have an SECOND IDE CONTROLLER.
