Protecting Your Online Identity
Two separate studies estimated that there were approximately 19,000 victims of identity theft per day in 2003. That’s nearly 7 million over the course of the year, 13 per minute. Victimization increased roughly 20% from 2001 to 2002 and 80% from 2002 to 2003. Not all identity theft occurs online, but as more and more people turn to the Internet for their banking and shopping, identity thieves are turning their attention.
Even if you steer clear of online banks and shopping, you might be surprised at what information can be gathered about you. Tune in this weekend as Ken, Brandon, and Chad explore the nation’s fastest growing crime and how you can protect your identity online.
