Media Center Magic!

Do you remember the good old days when you had a TV, VCR, and stereo system all in their respective places? You may have noticed in the past decade the line between them has gradually blurred. TV displays are appearing on devices ranging from your cell phone to your refrigerator. VCR technology has transformed into media that has a higher capacity and higher quality, such as DVDs and DVRs (Digital Video Recorder) and virtually everything electronic can now play music.

And now… enter the computer! Most typical desktop computers are capable of being a television, VCR, and stereo all at once, except no one wants to watch a movie with the family at their computer, right?

That’s where the PC media center comes in, which can consolidate all of your video, audio, and computing entertainment into one neat little package. It’s essentially just your average, run-of-the-mill personal computer; but with the right hardware, becomes much more. Additionally, it can be configured as your home’s “central nervous system”, offering intrusion detection and turning on and off electrical appliances.
