BYOD - Bring Your Own Device
There’s a new trend in the biz tech world... BYOD or Bring Your Own Device.
Companies are letting employees bring their personal laptops, tablets and smartphones to do their work.
BYOD is good... Employees are more flexible and therefore more productive, they can work anywhere, anytime. BYOD lowers your overhead since they are buying the technology, and typically, employees have better tech with newer apps.
But, BYOD is bad too. Information security can be tricky, a bad malware infection or misusing a computer could expose your information. Also, it’s happened to many of us... we leave a phone at a restaurant or the laptop in the car. Lost, stolen and damaged devices can result in stolen data, lost projects, or a complete breach of your network.
Ultimately, having personal devices in the workplace is unavoidable. What’s most important are the systems you have in place to protect your business, data, server and more.
Create your BYOD policy today, so your employees don’t accidentally expose your critical business data tomorrow.
