Read Gmail When You're Not Online
We’ve told you for years why Gmail is our favorite web-based mail service, but how can you use a web service when you have no Internet connection?
It’s time for another Data Doctors Tech Tip.
If you use Gmail, you’ll know why we’re such big fans: great management tools and great spam filters.
But, sometimes you don’t have an Internet connection, but still need to answer those emails or check through a bunch of unread messages.
That’s where Gmail Offline comes in.
Gmail Offline is an app that allows you to access and work with your account, even when you’re not connected to the internet.
You can even respond to emails and search your archives, but how is that possible?
After you do a quick install of the Chrome plugin, Gmail Offline will automatically synchronize messages anytime an Internet connection is available and Google’s Chrome browser has been opened.
More than just an offline app, the user interface is much like the tablet version of the app. It’s extremely fast and focuses on the one thing you need, your email and contacts.
To use Gmail Offline, simply sign into your Gmail account, open a new tab in Chrome and click on the blue envelop icon. You’re now up and running!
And it’s not just for Gmail either; checkout the offline capabilities of Google Calendar and Google Docs as well!
So now, the next time you fly cross country, you don’t have to buy that expensive in-flight internet service to be productive!
